I was the 2014 Green Party candidate for Congress form Michigan's 10th District. I want to thank everyone who voted for me in 2014. I may run for Congress again in 2016 as Green or a Democrat. The following were my priorites in 2014; they are still my priorites.
It should be evident to voters that our involvement in Iraq has gained us little yet we are back on a path towards expanding our involvement there. My first priority would be to say no to war and unnecessary new weapons systems.
It is not our teacher’s fault our schools are not as good as they should be. We need more teachers. We need to start our children in school at younger age and our schools should operate 24 hours a day seven days a week. My second priority would be to provide federal money to hire one million new teachers nationally.
The private sector has not been able to provide the new jobs for our young people; the private sector is eliminating jobs. There are plenty of things that need to be done; the government should provide money to do the things that need to be done. We can provide jobs and still move towards a balanced budget by cutting defense spending, eliminating welfare programs, and increasing taxes on people who are well off. My third priority would be to provide jobs for everyone who wants one.
